Very Unique! When is the last time (if ever) that you saw a late 20's tow truck with all of it's original towing hardware? If you are like us, the answer would probably be, never. This unit is the real deal, obtained by the current collector after it was discovered in a warehouse where it had been stored since the early thirties (32-33), that's' about 80 years of rest. An original Graham Brothers body truck, modified as they did in those days, to make what they needed for a specific use. It is a 1 1/2 ton truck and more than likely, the only year/model like it in existence. All of the original parts where there and it was in need of a restoration. It was very solid with no rust, ironically because it had to much grease on it to rust...
The truck has been restored from the ground up with a thorough mechanical restoration including intentional cosmetic body patina, wear and use flaws. Items rebuilt include the original engine, transmission, differential, hydraulic braking system, new tires & spare, generator converted to 12V alternator within original housing, starter and cosmetics...
It even utilizes it's original chain/crank operated "Manley Wrecking Crane" manufactured in York, PA with operational tools. The only notable replacements needed during the restoration were the trafficator and radiator cap. The paint is same color as found with patina to carry the old look and the Sideboards read “Towing Fords and Chevy’s since 1929”...
In closing, just when you thought you had everything, the perfect addition to any collection. It drives like an old truck, top speed is 45 MPH but it is cute and a real attention getter... |
