Vehicle Description |
"Cool Blu" is nick
named "The Ace" and has a story to tell... While on
vacation in Myrtle Beach, the owner/restorer was playing
Golf on the Par 3 14th when he noticed a familiar shape
under a tarp next to a home near the golf course. With
the foursome headed off to the 19th hole for another
round, just as any hard core Street Rod visionary would
do, he headed off to see if he could score a real "Ace".
As he rolled up the driveway, his instincts were
correct, a rock solid '35 Roadster was resting quietly
under that tattered tarp, missing a few items and
needing a full restoration.
After a quick
knock on the door, it opened and the owner immediately
said, "I would bet you are here wanting to buy my '35
like every one else who sees it from the Golf Course?"
Invited in by the owner, he proceeded to show him a huge
stack of Business Cards left by locals who wanted to buy
it, when and if it ever became available for sale. He
asked where are you from and since he was from Minnesota
on Vacation, He said "Good I can sell it to you because
I won't have to explain why I chose one local buyer over
another"! He just happened to have
plenty of cash and was ready to pull the trigger. "How
Much" he asked, the owner point blank stated his price,
he hesitated and said "seems a bit strong", with that
the owner said "I guess this conversation is over, do
you have a card you would like to leave too?" With that,
no further conversation was needed and the cash was
counted! :)
The Roadster was
transported 1,400 miles to Bloomington, Minnesota, a
year was spent straightening and stiffening the
stock 'rails, setting up the chassis, creating the power
train and setting the body on the freshly built rails.
After it was a running and driving car, it was sent 1,200 miles south to Rods & Restos
in Centre, Alabama, for metalwork, plating, paint, and
finishing. Shop owner Neil Lea and his crew were already
working on the owners '56 Chevy Wagon "Spyze"
(Link Here) with C5 driveline
that was destined to be a Detroit Autorama Ridler Great 8 Contender in
2008. The '56 was moving in
a radical direction and was put on hold while this jewel
got the mild resto-rod theme you see today...
Real deal Henry Steel, Fender to Fender, about as good
as it gets...2006 NSRA Nationals
"Pros-Pick"!
The end result, an absolutely stunning "Resto-Rod"
with quality craftsmanship that will leave you
breathless!!! Are you the type that's insists on the
best of everything, quality, style, fit, functional fun
and "STOP YOU IN YOUR TRACKS" beauty? If so, View All 96

disappointments...
