Whoa Nelly, hold yer horses and take a good look at this
absolutely stoic survivor. According to included
documents, this beauty sold brand spanking new on 03/03/1937 at Anglin Motor Company to a Mrs. Jetta Bird of Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma for the tidy sum of $690.00. The original
title (canceled) is included showing a unique history of
original ownership for more than 37 years (see below
copy showing typed annual registration stamps dating
well into the mid 70's)...
After several obvious caring years, this wonderfully
preserved specimen found it's way into the hands of a
well known California collector J. J. Barnhardt in
approx 2005, whom felt it deserved the attention of well
known "So-Cal Speed Shop" for detailed professional
attention. After initial inspection, the body and
general overall presence was just so nice, it was the perfect
candidate for of their famous "Shave and Haircut" (5 photo gallery link click here)...
We have taken the time to view each and every receipt
(over 70 pages exceeding 95k & approx 15 month period) detailing the tedious
process of taking this car to the next level. Basically,
as mentioned earlier, this body was so nice that it did
not need a full restoration, more so a mechanical touch,
cosmetic polish, refit of everything, rewire and finally
a new 11K leather and German weave carpet interior by
well known Gabe's Auto Upholstery.
The entire undercarriage, suspension,
transmission and Columbia 2 speed equipped differential
were all removed, disassembled, inspected, blasted,
painted and/or powder-coated, rebuilt as needed and
reassembled. The rock solid floor pans (top and bottom)
and factory frame required only cleaning and refinish
prior to reassembly. Complete juice brake system
overhaul including all brake lines and e-brake operation. Many many
hours of fitment and custom fabrication were invested
for that perfect result...
The engine received a thorough inspection and once over
including Offenhauser "Offy" Aluminum Heads, Intake
Manifold, Dual Stromberg 97 Carburetors, Mallory
Ignition w/wires, Head Stud Kit, motor mounts, water
pumps, 12V Alternator and Dyno run correct performance.
Just right...
The interior was stripped of everything, cleaned,
prepped and everything from the rebuilt wipers to new
wiring harness and everything in between was rebuilt and
tested for complete operation. It was then that a
carefully thought out $2,400 stereo system including
trunk mounted CD was mounted prior to Gabe's
performing his thread magic. All new trim hardware was
installed and the stunning Faux wood finishes performed
years ago by the late "Benny Estes" were so beautiful,
they were left untouched...
In closing, How much more do you need? Study the photos'
on this one and you will come away highly impressed...
Not Perfect, just right. A Rare & Stunning Solid Solid
Survivor with No Excuses. Enjoy.... |
