You don't see many honest 35/36 5 Window Coupes
with good old school style! Yep, this is a nice real deal
"Henry Steel" ride with all steel components.
To the best of our knowledge the Stewart Warner Classic
Gauges were installed during the
restoration/modernization and the miles noted (5,122)
are believed to be actual since completion. An obvious
professional body off resto on a good honest
solid vehicle, the floor pans and all body panels are
all steel, solid and show no signs rust or excess
repair. Our best estimate on the age of professional
restoration would be 10-15 years young with considerate
indoor care and covered storage.
The body is very straight with good door, hood, panel
fit and factory roof insert. All windows operate
properly and yes the front windscreen cranks out and
rear rolls down as factory. The paint is of slightly
aged pro quality, more than likely a single stage and
while it looks great just the way it is, with a good
buff and minor touch-ups, it would be that much better
(I am picky but sometimes overly). There are typical scuff/scratch marks caused by poor attention when
lifting/closing hood sides (inside side of fender near
rear hood latch, both sides) and couple chips near lower trunk at
body (all are visible and/or pointed out in detail)
photos.
Equipped with a well running small block Chevy V8 engine
(according to previous owner comments, it is of Early
Corvette Origin), Single 4bbl Carter Style Carb, early
polished Edelbrock Finned Valve Covers & Oil Pan, Moon
Crankcase Breathers, vintage Moon? "Tear Drop" aluminum
air filter housing, Billet Serpentine Belt Drive System
and Dual Ram Horn Exhaust with Cherry Bomb Mufflers.
Transferring the power is a GM Turbo 350 Automatic
Transmission (finned aluminum pan & frame mounted fluid
cooler) and a Ford 9" inch differential with an
estimated 350 ratio, Posie style springs, standard
shocks and drum brakes. Up front traditional dropped
axle, multi leaf, gas shocks and upgraded Disc brakes.
The chassis/frame appears to be original with common
minor upgrade/reinforcements to accept late model power
train, all either powder coated or painted high gloss
black. No excuses undercarriage and power train.
Hop inside to a standard style 5 window Business Coupe
with roomy bench seating (Glide Engineering?) and
functional Rumble Seat! Classic Winged Stewart Warner
gauges, GM Tilt Steering w/Billet Column mounted shifter
& Shift Indicator, Leather Wrapped Billet "Banjo"
Steering Wheel, Glove Box Mounted AM/FM CD Stereo. Yes,
you see an engine mounted BILLET A/C COMPRESSOR but
there are no hoses, condenser or interior components, so
you have a good start towards easy A/C installation if
you so chose. What
else can I say except a "GOOD HONEST DRIVABLE STEEL 36" with Classic Hot
Rod Style and a no excuses presence... |
