3 Owners - Stunning solid original body, original wood
and amazing patina! You won't see another one like this,
that's for sure. Known history and a true "Barn Find" in
1985 after 33 years of peaceful rest...
This beauty was purchased brand new in 1936 for the
specific purpose of use on a Red Bank, NJ "Grape
Vineyard", transporting owners and employees around the
property. In 1951 the company installed a new vinyl
roof, the side curtains were removed and slide in safety
glass was installed. In 1952 the Vineyard was closed and
the 36 wagon was stored on blocks and covered until 1985
when the property was sold at auction and after 49 years
the Woody would have its 2nd owner who rebuilt the
engine, installed new tires, all new fluids and new
windshield...
Purchased by the current family in 1986 who replaced the
seat covers and proceeded to drive it up and down the
California Coast. In 1989, while keeping the original
body and patina intact a few upgrades were performed
including a NOS 37 steering box, new radiator, 40 Ford
juice (hydraulic) brakes w/39 master cylinder, 39
Lincoln Zephyr Transmission, 36 Ford Columbia 2 speed
rear axle w/electronic control & speedo changer (low 411
to 354 highway), 1975 Chevy small block w/adapted pieces
(no cutting of factory mounts) and all new 12V wiring
(original 6 volt radio). In the last few years 2011
include new Coker radial tires, new battery, new drake
fuel tank and sender...
A real trooper, over the years, this Woody Wagon has
traveled as far north as Paso Robles and south to San
Diego, cruises at 65/70 all day long, runs cool and
never burns oil. ALL Wood is original, the
interior has NEVER been stripped or recoated, the
exterior had 2 coats of varnish applied 15 years ago,
the rear window curtain is the original and approx 90%
of the exterior metal finish is ALL original...
In closing, this Woody holds the character of an honest
original with the mechanics of a newer Wagon. Simply
irresistible with it's original detail, patina and
style. Don't miss this one... |
