Prior to its recently completed extensive restoration,
this gem was recovered in the bed of a drought stricken
pond just outside of the Indianapolis area. In research with
locals, it was identified as previously owned/driven by
Paul "Potsy" Goacher (1917-1986) of Anderson, Indiana...
Potsy's nickname was set while he was very young,
insisting to his parents that a Stop Sign was spelled
wrong, driving them crazy, they reversed the letters and
called him "Potsy". It seemed, Stop was never is his
vocabulary, as a teen, he would hitchhike to the
Indianapolis Raceway to sneak thru the fences and watch
the annual races. He later started a long successful
career racing Midget race cars with the goal of driving in
the Indy 500 Race and he came very close, losing a 1953
Bump Day spot in a field of 33 cars. Goacher was also
known as the" Musical Midget Race Car Driver" who played
the Sax, Clarinet and led a popular local Orchestra "Potsy's
Swingette" heard on the radio...
In closing, this Vintage Midget Race Car has been totally
rebuilt and/or restored to perfection in "every"
category. A thorough professional quality restoration
encompassing several years. All chrome and paint finishes
are show quality in every aspect. The engine has been
updated with a period Ford V8-60 due to availability of
parts and also receiving the same level of professional
attention. Everything was assembled/dialed-in with the
ability to operate but the owner/restorer felt is was
better to leave the fuel tanks dry as it truly belongs
within a collection, living room or man cave... |
