and only 70k actual miles.
Prior to its stunning body off restoration, it had
remained in the same San Diego owners hands for 45 years
who had purchased it from the original owner's, a
Convent in Santa Barbara. Needless to say, this true
California car was the perfect candidate for a quality
high end result...
Done just right, it is resting on complete nut/bolt body off Retro-Rod restoration. The entire chassis was
completely stripped, prepped and all suspension/chassis
components were powder coated prior to assembly.
Fitted with updated suspension including "Chassis
Engineering" parallel rear leaf spring kit, dropped
front axle, "Posi Super Slide" front spring, front
panhard bar & stabilizer bar, aluminum "580" steering
box, F/R gas shocks, updated power assist brakes,
large F-100 front/rear drum brakes (all new components), rebuilt Ford 9" 273 ratio rear differential
w/new axles and more...
Resting between those rails is a nicely dressed GM 350
crate engine rated at 290HP featuring "Edelbrock" intake
manifold & 600cfm carburetor, H.E.I. Distributor,
"Sanderson" heat coated headers, custom dual exhaust
w/over axle rear exit, "Walker" high capacity radiator,
"Cooling Components" electric fan & shroud, high amp
alternator, frame mounted trans cooler and smooth
shifting turbo 350 automatic transmission. The ride &
ratio's are perfect for around town or the highway...
The whistle straight body features a wonderful rust free
and no panel replacement specimen that was stripped to
bare metal prior to prep and professional refinish. Most
of the exterior trim is "NOS" or pristine original, all
new glass/runs & seals, all "NOS" door latches and
window regulators. A quality PPG single stage body color
was carefully chosen to closely duplicate a 1939 Ford "Folkstone
Gray" or light tan, based on a more modern and/or easily
mixable 1980's Lincoln paint sample. Finally, the
exterior is finished and rolling on tastefully colored "Vintique"
15" steel wheels, body color pinstriping, beauty rings,
Ford script hub caps and radial wide white tires. Super
Slick & Just Right :-)....
Moving inside, you will find original factory seating,
door panels and rear window deck perfectly trimmed in
"Old School Style", supple 2 tone Leather black outers
with pleated white centers. The cabin/trunk floors were
treated to "Dyna-Mat" heat/sound insulation prior to
receiving quality fitted "German Square Weave" carpet.
Finished to perfection in gloss black, interior features
include working factory speedometer & fuel gauge,
updated/reliable under-dash panel w/Stewart Warner
gauges & audio controls, AM/FM CD multi disc player, Amp
w/4 speakers (kick & rear deck), "Bell" 17" steering
wheel, stock 41 steering column and "Vintage"
