Some say the 58 Impala initiated the beginning of the
Muscle car era when high performance big blocks and posi-traction
differentials became serious options. Top that off with glamorous
restyling as compared to the ever popular "Tri-Five"
(1955 to 1957) Belair models. Chevrolet promoted the new
design concept as "Lower and Longer, Wider and Stronger...Deep Down
New"... Chevy design engineers were certainly busy
in the late 50's, from the sharp fins of 1957 to the
gull wings of 1958 and onto the super flowing wings of
the 1959 model year, the 58 Model year stands alone as a
transition of things to come. Ah the "Good Old Days"...
Now
after taking a moment to step back in time, let's take a
look at this beautifully restored and well appointed
specimen in its all original glory! Factory Options
include Rio Red "923" exterior, Tri-Color Red
"854" interior, 348 4bbl 250HP V8, Turbo Glide Automatic
Transmission, Posi-Traction Differential, Power Steering
and Power Brakes. Read on for more...
Resting
on well documented, thorough and complete "body off"
restoration of a rock solid un-restored original that
began in 1992 when the body was removed from the
chassis. The chassis/frame was completely stripped,
refurbished as needed, powder coated and refitted with
all newly rebuilt suspension components. The original
348 4bbl 250HP V8 was bored 30 over rebuilt and balanced
along with the factory Turbo Glide Transmission and Posi-Traction
rear differential. The body was stripped and treated to
bare metal "Acid Dip" prior final prep and correct
exterior Rio Red refinish. Keep in mind, during this
process, every effort was made to retain/refurbish "All
Original" major components...
Once
the rolling chassis and body off sheet metal refinish
was complete, the body was returned to the frame and it
was stored away, covered and protected for 14 years. In
2006, after a long rest, the tedious final assembly
resumed using all of the original components including
smaller items such as carburetion, power brake booster,
radiator, gas tank, bumpers, grill, all stainless trim
(inside & out), wiper motor, heater, gauges, door
handles, etc. Almost every part is the original piece
that came on this car. Correct 2 1/4 Wide Whitewall
tires on 14" chrome reverse wheels and included factory
hub caps that can easily be applied, if you so desire. I think you get the idea...
In closing, Simply
Beautiful, Rock Solid, Whistle Straight and Rare
Matching Numbers. Nicely restored and honest specimens
rarely become available, don't miss it... Good Day, Paul
Harvey! |
