Where do I start? The entire project began as a good
honest original. Resting on it's refitted original
chassis, up front is the original all steel cab w/rare
original 1 piece windshield, doors w/handles &
wind-wings, factory steel hood/grill and 1950 Ford front
bumper. Moving back & along the side are custom made
steel running boards flowing under a masterfully placed
late model 1989 GMC short bed step-side modified to
accept 1950 Chevy truck fenders, fitted with 1950
Pontiac taillights, custom rear roll pan w/the ability
to accept a hitch, smoothed tailgate w/inner handle and
topped with a Snug Top fiberglass insulated/lockable
bed cover. Professionally smoothed, prepped and finished
in an "Athens Blue" two stage paint finish before laying
on custom hand laid pin striping. Hang on...
The original frame was stripped and modified using TCI
front suspension components including Power
Rack-N-Pinion steering, Tubular control arms and Power disc
brakes. All components painted black. The rear frame
section is C’d to give room for the suspension parts and
is completely boxed for additional strength. The rear
suspension/drive components are TCI four bar w/coil-over
shocks, Ford 8.8 3:73 ratio differential, rear Disc
Brakes and pan-hard bar. Resting on polished American
Racing Torque Thrust 15 x 7 Front and 15 x 8 Rear
wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial TA’s on all four
corners. Hold it...
Propelling it down the road is a fully computerized 2005
GM 5.3L factory Fuel Injected V8 with wiring components and computer work by Street and
Performance, many special parts from Street and
Performance were used during the installation: Mass Air
Flow sensor, motor mounts, exhaust system and A/C
brackets. Factory drive by wire pedal and control
Module. Automatic Over drive is provided thru a 2005 GM
4L60E transmission (wiring from Street and Performance
also integrates this system). Gas tank is owner built,
in tank submerged pump/filters and holds approximately
19 gallons. Aluminum Radiator, trans cooler and A/C
condenser. The end result is a reliable system that
Performs flawlessly and obtains 24+ miles per gallon.
