Description
If you are a serious Automotive Collector, you know the importance of provenance, documentation, authenticity and overall condition when choosing an investment grade specimen. Part of a prestigious Southern California automotive collection, this vintage funny car brings you all of that & more. It was one of the 1st fiberglass cars to participate in the "Coca Cola "Cavalcade of Stars" Drag Racing Series. Extensive research and in person interviews were utilized in the research and authentic preservation... Historically, this 1970 Dodge Challenger was 1st raced by Fred Goseke as a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner and was one of the 1st cars in the series. Fred sold the car to Marv Eldridge in late 1969 minus the engine and transmission. Marv re-bodied the car with a new Fiberglass Trends 1970 Challenger body and participated as one of the six cars in the 1970 Cavalcade of Stars touring series. Marv later sold the car to Bob Taylor and it became the "Time Machine II" campaigned on the West Coast. Bob sold the car to Pennsylvania where it raced as the "Trail Blazer" in the BB/Funny Car Class. In the late 90's it was purchased by Mike Spoor of Texas, he traced the history of the car and discovered that it was the Marv Eldridge Funny Car. Pete Eastwood purchased the car in 2005 named as "Desparado". John, the current owner, purchased it from Pete and began the extensive, painstakingly correct and professional authentic restoration/preservation that you see here today... All 1st Class All New Rebuilt Parts "Dead Nuts Original"; Mike Kuhl built Hemi 5/8 stroker, aluminum cylinder heads by Hot Heads, Specialty roller rockers, Blower with Hilborn 4 Port Fuel Injection, Vertex Magneto ignition, self starting, B & M Torqueflite racing transmission, Koni rear shocks and Ford 9" rear differential with "correct-early" Strange full floating spool.
