This 1928 Ford Model A Phaeton was ordered in Canada by a
Botswana South Africa Diamond Prospector, it was shipped
in 3 crates to Port Elizabeth and assembled at Ford's S.A.
assembly plant for delivery. It was parked in a Diamond
Mine in Botswana in 1929, where it sat for 50 years, until
the owner died. Diamonds were reportedly found by the 2nd
owner in a concealed floor compartment during a
restoration. The restored car was again packed in 3 crates
and stored in a Port Elizabeth warehouse until 1995 when
it was shipped to its 3rd owner in California, restored
again, it would be driven low exercise miles by subsequent
owners and it had been shown extensively in the USA.
Powered by a 201 CID inline 4 cylinder, 3 speed manual
transmission & 3/4 floating axle. Its current features
include 4dr body by Briggs Manufacturing Company, folding
touring convertible top, wire wheels, rear spare tire,
brown simulated leather and added luggage rack/trunk. |
