We are
extremely pleased to bring you this very special and just
right 1 of a kind "Magoo" built street-rod... old school
done right, a well preserved piece of automotive Street
Rod history. Multiple Hall of Fame builder, the "late"
Dick "Magoo" Megugorac began building street rod's in the
1940's and went on to become one of the true pioneers of
the Rod & Custom Industry. During his early years, Dick
was one of So-Cal's most active Street/Strip racers on the
boulevards of Los Angeles and places like El Mirage.
At a
time when most rods where home built as daily drivers,
Dick would become one of the market leaders building cars
"that you could drive" with industry leading first's
including the use of Teflon bushings between leaf springs
& other suspension points, packaged disc brake kits,
complete street rod build kits, the finest Deuce 3 Piece
hood combination and many other innovations including the
famed 1979 Grand National Roadster Show - America's Most
Beautiful Roadster Winner "DEUCARI", a 1932 Ford Roadster
with a Ferrari 365 GT V12...
In
order to give you an inside perspective of how special
each and every "Magoo" car is, I spent some time
discussing Magoo's passion with Dick's son Dave Megugorac
who proudly recalled that his Dad's strength's were "that
he never built a car that he wouldn't drive himself and he
drove what he built". There were no exceptions when it
came to his dedication towards building a hot rod that you
truly could drive, as if each one was his very own. "He
did not have favorite cars or customers, all cars were
built as though they would be driven forever and he did
what it took to do it right" and "it's going to look like
it came out of my shop". Over the years Dick built approx
4-5 complete hot rods a year for clients as well as
himself...
Originally built in the 1980’s, this all steel Briggs body
1932 Ford Cabriolet is one of those very special cars. For
many years before coming to Arizona in 09, this beauty
remained in Southern California with members of the LA
Roadster’s Club. It still retains that very special look,
stance and feel that only “Magoo” could accomplish while
remaining very much the driver that he intended. There is
an included file dating back into the early 90’s
containing prior owner notes, original build & early
magazine article (posted here) and repairs/upgrades
throughout the years. Some upgrades over the years include
an updated ZZ4 350V8 with high mount water pump housing
for better cooling, front disc brakes, shock & rear end
changes, A/C Heat in the 90’s, and the only” set of Kerker
Long Tube Headers ever produced. All in all, this beauty
is well preserved, a consistent show winner, solid driver
and well cared for “Magoo Survivor”...
In
closing, very few street rods can send you back in time
with their natural presence, perfection in stance, overall
historic appeal and rarely do they become available. Study
our highly detailed photos/videos and feel free to express
your interest...
