Hot Rodding is and always
has been, about having fun! This Hot Rod spells it out in
"Big Grin-Seat of Your Pants" B Gas style. As the
owner/builder appropriately stated, "It's Fun, Functional
and Nothing Fancy". This is the type of car that offers
tons of grins per mile and plenty of bang for the buck. We
had great fun documenting this car and interviewing the
owner/builder. (must see video:-)....
Quite the creative old
school car builder and private fabricator, this all steel
Willys Coupe body/chassis was originally acquired at a
Reno Nevada Swap Meet about 10+ years ago. As with every
car he builds, he has the vision to see the end result and
truly enjoys his retired time in the shop. They are always
built very stout, are never intended to be perfect and
meant to recapture times gone by when you actually built
them yourself and most items could not bought out of a
catalog. Got it...
The all steel body/fenders
are finished with an intentional patina/age style in
bright orange single stage, old school pin-striping, hand
painted aged drag-strip style graphics, cream fender
welting, shaved door handles, recessed rear license plate,
factory rear bumper & F/R lighting, halogen headlight
bulbs w/hidden turn indicators, Gasser style spoke front
wheels and polished Kidney rear wheels...
The chassis has been
completely boxed/reinforced, updated and is very stout
with parallel leaf front springs, shortened 56 Ford F-100
axle, Vega cross-steer box, 4-wheel Disc brakes, dual
reservoir master cylinder w/braided lines, 4 corner gas
shocks, parallel rear leaf springs w/traction control
bars, Lincoln Versailles 9" rear axle housing and custom
18-20 gallon rear mount fuel tank...
Under the hood resides an
absolutely cool running Chevy 355 cubic inch V-8 with
aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, 4bbl carburetor,
aluminum Bryce-Thomas radiator & remote scooped underbody,
dual Spal cooling fans, Milodon oil pan, fender well
headers w/side-pipes and aluminum engine dress.
Transferring the power is an Muncie 4 speed trans and
hydraulic clutch with scatter-shield...
Moving inside and insisting
on only the basics, includes black vinyl bucket seats
w/headrests, smooth door panels/headliner, center console,
carpet interior & trunk, rear cargo area, full Engine
instrumentation, gold trimmed dash, Moon-Eyes steering
wheel, vintage turn signals, electric windshield wipers,
hand fabbed pedals, Hurst Shifter w/8 Ball and a singe
