Rare,
Solid and Honest Early Muscle! During the early 60's, with
the rise of drag-strips and circle track racing, American
auto manufacturers were playing the power game, cubic
inches and pure horsepower would become the point of
competition during this very historic era. The late
production run of the mid-year 1963 427 Dual Quad Galaxie
500 was Fords answer to the formidable 1963 Chevrolet 409
Dual Quad Impala version and with both rated at 425Hp, the
retail, street and track fight was on...
"History
Based On A Letter & Documents From The Original Owner"
This
double black beauty was sold new to Stefan Fleischer on
May 2, 1963 at Archer Ford-Rochester, New York. While
waiting for a factory ordered lightweight, "which never
seemed to make production", this car arrived at Archers
Ford and he bought it. Stefan was an avid drag racer in
the early 60's and spent much of his time at the local
raceway. This exact car would "spend much of its time at
Spencer Speedway near Rochester and the balance of the
time racing the streets and out running the law."
"This
was one fast Ford in its day". Stefan moved to Sarasota
Florida in 1975 and towed the 63 Ford behind a U-Haul
truck, "my German Shepard rode in the front seat behind
the steering wheel with another mongrel type dog... what a
sight going down the interstate." He drove the car
locally from 1975 until about 1980 and then parked the car under
his carport "with the hopes of restoring it someday". From
that point, it would remain un-restored and unmolested
under that carport until 12/98, more than 18+ years.
Overall, Stefan owned and protected this solid survivor
for 35+ yrs...
