Fun Facts: The
Ford "BOSS-9" Mustang was built specifically to satisfy
the NASCAR homologation rule and meet Grand National
racing requirements. These cars were assembled at the Ford
Rouge plant with a 428 Cobra Jet power-train and
subsequently shipped to Kar-Kraft in Brighton, Michigan
where they would receive the required modifications
including the Boss 429 engine up-grade, spring towers
modified forward 1", A-Arms lowered 1", flare front
fenders (due to increased tire size F60x15), trunk mounted
battery, power steering cooler, oil cooler and then
shipped back to Ford for completion...
During this process, all
cars received a 4 digit KK NASCAR specific ID number/door
jamb label and were further identified with vehicle
identification numbers stamped on the engine block &
transmission, consequently the BOSS cars are are one of the few Mustangs that you can actually match the original
engine/transmission with the original car. During the 1969
model year only 859 of these powerful Mustangs were
produced with Kar Kraft numbers KK NASCAR 1201 through
2059...
